Saba Qamar is a Pakistani actress that needs no introduction. She has been around for quite a lot of time and everyone in Pakistan knows her as an excellent and talented actress. She is the kind of actress who can nail any role. Be it a role of protagonist or antagonist. Her expressions speak louder and that’s the specialty of an actor.
She has come far from her first project to now. Compare to that she has improved a lot, has done many challenging roles and proved herself over the years. She doesn’t belong to an artists family background yet has the skills and talent of a pure artist.
There are few dramas in which she has played negative role and completely aced it. Lets breakdown each one of them and remember the good ol’ dramas.
Maat:
Maat was a superhit drama written by Umera Ahmed. Starring powerful trio of lead actors; Saba Qamar, Amina Sheikh and Adnan Siddiqui. The main highlight of the drama was Saba Qamar, how she was so complexed of her lower middle-class background and fantasized a luxurious life always without making any effort for it. She was beautiful and she knew it and she was so engrossed in her complex and jealousy that she didn’t even spare her own elder sister who loved and cared for her and grab the opportunity of attaining a well-off lifestyle by marrying her cousin who was previously engaged to her sister. And later leaves the husband and her child for another rich man.
The acting, expressions, dialogues, underlying complex and selfishness is so accurately portrayed by Saba Qamar that it seems that the character was written for her solely.
Bunty I Love You:
In this drama, Saba Qamar is playing the role of a girl named Dania who is in her late twenties. She got married at a young age of 17 to a much older man Patel. 12 years later, her husband died and leaves half of the property to her wife’s name. Dania is now a widow and wants to live a free life. She falls in love to a mobile snatcher who is much younger and belongs to a lower class family. The lost love and passion in her life and the will to live freely led her to be completely obsessed with the guy. Her journey of love, jealousy and possessiveness was beautifully acted by Saba Qamar.
Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi:
This drama was based on a tribal feud between two brothers’ families, where they have exchanged marriages. Saba Qamar was not in the lead role, she is playing a supporting character. But, that didn’t stop her to shine in the drama serial. Her role as Noman Ijaz’s wife and her attempts to make her place in her in-laws home and husband’s life cunningly was rightly acted by her. The way her eyes speak and expressions change is amazing and despite being limited and shared screen time, she was noticeable in the drama.
Currently, she was out of the industry due to COVID among many other actors as well but she has taken some projects and will be back to grace the screens soon.
