The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) censured Multan Sultans all-rounder Kieron Pollard for a level-one violation of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Workers during his team’s encounter against Lahore Qalandars on Saturday at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
According to Article 2.5 of the rule, it is forbidden to employ “language, actions, or gestures which denigrate or which could induce a violent reaction from a batter upon his/her expulsion during a match,” which includes Pollard’s angry ejection of Abdullah Shafique of the Qalandars.
It should be mentioned that Qalandars defeated Sultans by 21 runs to become the first PSL team to earn a spot in the playoffs.
The Sultans were limited to 159-7 in 20 overs while attempting to reach the 181-run mark.
Although Pollard hit 39 runs in just 28 balls, Sultans were unable to complete the victory.
On March 19, the PSL 8 final and closing ceremony will take place in Lahore, which will also serve as the site of the playoffs.
In addition to receiving the Supernova Trophy, the victor will also receive a check for Rs120 million, while the runners will each receive a check for Rs48 million.
Lahore Qalandars will strive to become the first team to win consecutive championships, while Islamabad United will strive to make history by winning the trophy three times.
