What better way to honor International Women’s Day than through art? Meesha Shafi released a surprise song devoted to South Asian women, and she teamed with a number of female prominent celebrities to illustrate the diversity of the genre. The music video contains a transgender lady, a pregnant woman, and a woman in a wheelchair, among other women of all shapes and capacities.
Meesha Shafi’s songs are something that music fans eagerly anticipate. It is, however, much more thrilling when the tunes are unexpected. As International Women’s Day approaches, Shafi chose to share a new song with her fans to celebrate the occasion. ‘Rajkumari,’ her most recent album, praises women and the queens that they are.

The song opens with the narrative of a Rajkumari (queen) who climbs to power and wears a crown that glows brighter than the others. Shafi is dressed up as the Queen of Hearts. The singer appears like a royal queen, from her headpiece to the details on her nails. Roses are bursting out of her ears, and she holds a blood-red rose in her palm, suggesting the birth of a new queen.

Awais Gohar directed the video, which portrays women from many areas of life. As Shafi sings about the skies that reside beneath her feet, we see a pregnant woman on television. In her wheelchair, we observe a differently-abled woman dressed up, symbolizing women who are frequently neglected. Transgender people are also included in the video. As a result, Shafi’s most recent song is a tribute to all those in society who are frequently forgotten or forced into a corner. Shafi reminds us that all women are competent and attractive.
Meesha Shafi recently surprised her fans by infusing rap into her songs. She teamed with Faris Shafi for Coke Studio’s ‘Muaziz Saarif,‘ in which we saw her rap in Urdu, not long ago. Rajkumari, on the other hand, raps about women’s power and how they look like queens in a blend of English and Urdu.
Hashim Ali, the art director, achieves a lovely combination of light and dark. The video has a dark tone to it, yet each character has been adorned in a way that makes them stand out. ‘Rajkumari’ is a straightforward track with a more profound message for the public. And it arrives at the ideal time to appreciate ladies!
